Stitches West 2016

The yarn for this shawl was purchased at Stitches West 2015. The shawl was supposed to be completed for a family wedding last summer. Obviously I did not finish it,  now my goal is to have it done in time for Stitches West 2016. Here is a recap of my trip last year if you are planning to attend this year. The yarn for the shawl above was purchased from Neighborhood Fiber Company. They are one of my favorite suppliers. This was a gradient package with 5 yarn colors in DK weight. Each set includes 5 mini skeins (60 grams, approx. 137 yards each). Miss Babs  another one of my favorite vendors supplied the pattern. I thought it worked well with the gradients. Miss Babs also had gradient sets. They seemed to be all the rage last year. It will be interesting to see if it is the same this year and also what is new.

Another yarn set from my 2015 shopping spree is a fingering weight yarn “Twinkle” from WSK, Western Sky Knits and I also bought a Sport Weight yarn. I made the fingerless mitts pictured below out of Twinkle. The set contained six colors,  approximately 40 yards per color.

Western Sky Knits, Twinkle, Fingerless Mits

The pattern is free from Purl Soho. They fit very loosely. I made the larger size so they are quite baggie. I also improvised the thumb. The sport weight yarn is five colors and 150 yards. I feel like I need more for a cowl plan to supplement with more yarn this year.

Still in my stash are two “Puppies” from Yoth Yarns. They were all the rage last year. Amazingly the yarn was picked over 5 minutes after the market opened. They do a great job with marketing. Check out the website the images are beautifully done.

Don’t miss the yarns at Verdant Gryphon. I have two skeins of Traveller in my stash from last year calling me. 560 yards waiting to be born. I must finish my shawl before I can start this. They may be small but I love the Yarn Over Truck. A few years ago I bought Indigo Dragonfly from them, it is still on my needles but I will get it done.

I am working through my stash from the last Stitches so I can make more purchases next month at Stitches West 2016.  The expo opens Thursday,  I will be attending the Spotlight and Opening Day Luncheon this will allow me to get into the Thursday night market preview which is only for attendees. In past years I have enjoyed the market classes. Those have not been opened up for this year. I hope they have them.

It would be great to add to this list of favorite vendors or events at Stitches. Please comment below and I will post for others to see.

Lastly to add to my fiber addiction after Stitches I will be attending Sewing & Stitchery Expo in Washington.  This will be my first time and heard there are 25,000 people that attend the event. Wowza! I will be at the expo for three day and signed up for 4 classes.
