I have been working at improving my bag making skills. This is the basic bag from The Better Bag Maker by Nicole Mallalieu. She suggests you start here to learn the fundamentals. I found her directions a little hard to follow. The mastery of the bag was figuring out how to coordinate between the bag body, lining, interfacing and facings. Sorting the pattern pieces out was a challenge and I do think this was a good place to begin if you plan to make more bags from the book. It was supposed to have a zipper pocket on one side but I could not figure out how to do it and just wanted to get the bag done. I am pretty happy with how the bag turned out.
The bag body is a Japanese Fabric echino I picked up on at trip to Seattle and Bainbridge Island. The lining was a remnant that I purchased at Britex in San Francisco. I love mixing small patterns with large. The bag is a great size.
