Jean Paul Gaultier at the deYoung Museum San Francisco

Friday nights at the San Francisco deYoung Museum can be surreal. There is music, entertainment, cocktails, and art projects in the atrium, but the real gift is in the galleries.  The current exhibit is Jean Paul Gaultier, fashion’s enfant terrible,  “From the sidewalk to the catwalk“.   You must pay to enter the galleries whereas the atrium activities are free. Last night I took my point and shoot camera into the exhibit and clicked away (no flash). I will  go back multiple times the beauty of a museum membership.

The exhibit was one of the most interactive I have seen and the mannequins can steal the show. In part it reminded me of Disney Land, in a positive way.  The lighting was low, the mannequins talked and there was video throughout. A treat for the senses. As I looked at the crowd everyone appeared to be in aw but maybe that was the cocktails.  Take a peek at my pictures in the album below. My goal is to motivate you to see the show.  Let me know how I have done and if you go to the show your thoughts.

It’s not my aim to be provocative. I just try to reflect what I see and feel around me.

The display was so amazing i would go back any day to see it again. I love the mixture of culture and timelines.

I see what you mean about the mannequins – even without hearing them talk in this slide show, they look intriguing. In answer to your question, you have motivated me to see the exhibit. I heard about it, but had no idea it might be this fascinating. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey Maria, I think you would enjoy it. If anything it is worthwhile due to the uniqueness. Maybe we can plan a time to go together.

That would be fun. It’s been ages since I’ve been to the deYoung.
