Spinner’s Day on the Farm by the Russian River

I feel so lucky to have attended this event. I am not a spinner but I do love fibre and it is a treat to be around those that are so ambitious they spin and create the fibre they knit, crochet or craft with. This is a photo journal of my day since I really was a fish out of water and cannot speak intelligently about spinning unless I were to do some research.

The annual spinner’s day is sponsored by Sonoma County Fibertrails at Westside Farms in Healdsburg, CA. They provided a beautiful and shady picnic area that is near the Russian River. The event is intended to promote, showcase and sell fiber, fiber arts and related crafts, produced by the members of Sonoma County Fibertrails plus others. Anyone can attend, even non-spinners like myself.

To make it even more homey there was a pot-luck lunch and raffle with 8 prizes. My friend Warren won one of the raffle prizes he chose a big bag of beautiful roving. They also had demonstrations and many learning opportunities. If you missed it this year mark your calendar for next year the weekend before Father’s Day (see JoAnn Slissman’s comment below for clarification on the exact annual date).

If you are a spinner and can add any comments they would be appreciated. It truly was a delightful day. Click on any image to enlarge and for a description.

Hi, Do you know if this event will be held this year? I thought I saw a flyer at the Wool Festival, but did not get the date and time.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the great photo journal! I had a great time and since my camera was on the wrong settings, my pictures came out poorly. I’m glad I have your photos by which to remember this wonderful day!

Darn those camera settings! If it wasn’t for you I would not have been there. It was a very special day not to mention your winning a raffle prize.
