The Featherweight Was Produced For Over 30 Years
I am now the proud owner of a Singer Featherweight Sewing Machine. After going to the quilt show in Santa Clara I became obsessed with having to get one of these machines. Twice Nice Shoppe had a booth with refurbished machines in a rainbow of colors. I think he said they have 70 colors in their palette. As much as I love the bright pinks, purples and polka dots I am most nostalgic for the traditional black.
I went on eBay and searched for my machine and this is the one I adopted and I couldn’t be happier. I had her refurbished by Twice Nice Shoppe and sewed with her last night for the first time. The feel and sound is like a work horse. I am excited to make my first project.
These vintage machines are a hobby unto there own. I think it has over 35 oil / lube points. The oil points need to be oiled after 8 hours of sewing. Not like my Bernina, which also holds a special place in my heart.
Next is to give her/him a name. I am leaning for toward a her… Rosie? Daisy … Beyonce …
